Will your old TV still work? What actually happens on Feb 17th 2009? IS HDTV better and will all the same channels still be there? What actually happens is the networks stop broadcasting on the Analog frequencies and switch over to digital frequencies. Digital frequencies allow for more information to be sent thus allowing an HDTV signal to be transmitted. Some channels will use the entire bandwidth to send one stream of information and others will break it up into multiple streams and send different programming on each one. So you could have the main program on 7.1, weather on 7.2 and an infomercial on 7.3... this is just an example. The end result is better pictures and sound in HDTV as well as the potential for more viewing choices. If you are currently a Cable or Satellite customer then there is no change for you in terms of how you view TV. The change only effects those of us who are receiving their signal from an over the air antenna, that can be on the roof, in the attic or even a rabbit ears type unit. Heck for some of us it could be an old hanger twisted into the right shape and jammed in the hole where the busted antenna was on the TV. For those of us who receive our TV signals via antenna (free), we will need to buy an HDTV tuner that will hook up to our old sets. If you own an HDTV within ATSC (HD) tuner built in you have no worries. The tuners are around $60.00 and The Little Guys has them in stock. You can get up to two coupons from the government that are values at $40.00 each to apply towards the tuner purchase. They are available at https://www.dtv2009.gov/, two per household. All of the networks will switch over as they are being given the digital frequencies for free. Stop by the store and we will show you the new tuners, explain how they work and we will make sure you understand the entire changeover. ![]() Get the BRAND NEW Little Guys Catalog!!![]() Trying to find the right new piece of equipment to brighten the new year?
